Definitions: CBD oil, hemp oil, cannabis oil

You want to Buy CBD Oil, but have heard different product names and not quite sure which one means what? What is cannabis oil, what is hemp oil and what is CBD oil?

Basically, you can make different oils from plants in different ways. There are so-called Seed oilsthat are produced when the seeds of the plant are pressed - olive oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, for example. There is essential oilsthat can be distilled from various parts of a plant, such as its fruits, flowers, leaves or the bark.

Furthermore, it is possible to produce oil-based products in which a mostly neutral carrier oil "carries" or transports the ingredients.

CBD oil or CBD drops

CBD oil is not an oil extracted from the hemp plant, but rather an oily extract of the hemp plant with cannabidiol as its main ingredient.

The permitted THC content for CBD oil is 1%, while our neighbors have their own limits: under 0,2% in Germany and under 0,3% in Austria. The production of CBD Oil is relatively complex and quite time-consuming, which is why it is really important to buy high-quality products - the differences in quality can sometimes vary enormously.

The production steps include all “typical” steps in the processing of crops. After the harvest, the CBD-rich and low-THC hemp plants are dried. Next, the hemp seeds are extracted for further processing. Then the remaining plant material can be used to extract CBD. The CBD can be obtained by means of ethanol extraction or - more valuable and gentler - by means of so-called CO2 extraction. This extract is then mixed with the so-called carrier oil. Depending on the product type, coconut oil, olive oil or hemp seed oil can be used as carrier oil. Alternatively, the CBD can also be obtained through oil extraction.

Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is a conventional cooking oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the hemp plant. It's a high-quality oil containing important omega fatty acids. This not only makes your salad delicious and nutty, but also provides you with vital nutrients. CBD or even THC? Not at all. Hemp seed oil is also used in cosmetics and industry.

Hemp essential oil (English: Cannabis flower essential oil) is distilled from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. It contains neither CBD nor THC and is used in aromatherapy and for flavoring dishes.

Cannabis, as you know, is the name of the plant. This makes "cannabis oil" unfortunately the most confusing term of all, as it can refer to various products. This can include everything from cooking oil to so-called HaschOil, therefore: be careful. IMPORTANT: Cannabis oil may or may not contain THC. Cannabis oil may or may not contain CBD. If you find a product with this label, be sure to check the ingredients very carefully.

Differences in CBD oil

As we've shown, there are a few differences when extracting the ingredient CBD. But the recipes of individual CBD oils can also vary.

CBD: Isolated or Full Spectrum

Those who buy pure CBD isolate are purchasing a product that contains only cannabidiol, or CBD, and no other cannabinoids. So-called full-spectrum products, on the other hand, contain not only pure CBD but also other cannabinoids, as well as flavonoids and terpenes. They may also contain chlorophyll, beta-carotene, and various vitamins.

The CBD concentration in CBD oil

If you've ever wanted to buy CBD oil, you've probably noticed that it comes in different CBD concentrations, for example, 5%, 10%, or even over 40%. In our online shop, you'll find CBD oils with a CBD content of 5% to 40%.

Buying CBD oil – Here's what you should pay attention to

When buying CBD oil, it's important to make sure you can read the exact CBD content on the product. The CBD percentage (e.g., 5% in 50 ml of product) is usually stated directly. Also, check the THC content to ensure you're not exceeding legal limits. Finally, a tip for storage: CBD oil is sensitive to light and should be stored in a dark place. Your bathroom cabinet or a sunny shelf in the kitchen isn't suitable.
